Game Mechanics
Controls
Up, down, left and right and WASD move the characters.
Holding shift with the move keys will toggle walk mode.
The B key will bring up the back pack.
The number keys will select whichever item is in that numbered slot in the backpack.
The U key will use an item selected from the backpack.
The A key will attack; if there is a weapon slotted, A will use the melee attack. If no weapon is slotted, the character will use her hand to hand melee attack.
The R key will use the character's range attack.
The T key will use the character's tactical attack.
Right-click will pick up an item, melee attack an enemy, use a slotted item, or interact with an NPC.
The Esc key will bring the menu to exit the game.
Backpacks
Each character has a Backpack that holds 10 items until I pick a better quantity.
If I end up doing more than that, I might also just use the stardew valley tab thing where you switch backpack levels and the numbers stay the same.
The Race
The main conceit of the game is a combination of click and point adventure and a race.
Whichever character the player chooses will be timed to travel from her home at 2:00 am, the moment of impact, to the crash site on the other side of the map.
Her choices can create or remove delays for herself or the other two characters, who are also heading to the point of impact.
No earlier than 5:00 pm and no later than 7:00 pm, one of other characters will reach the crash site. The time it takes the other depends on what the player does.
The timing hierarchy is that:
If the player chooses Pinkie and does nothing, Louise will reach the crash site first.
If the player chooses Louise and does nothing, Daria will reach the crash site first.
If the player chooses Daria and does nothing, Pinkie will reach the crash site first.
The player has multiple actions that will create changes in the other two characters' timelines, but none of the characters can be delayed to reach after 7:00.
